Welcome back to the 2025-2026 school year at SAERC!
Our first year at SAERC was excellent. Our staff is eager to work with students, parents, guardians, community partners and others help make this year the best possible for our learners. Students have success when everyone works together to support them.
The Strait Regional Centre for Education released a Well-Being Goal which states the importance of fostering an inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, supported and can reach their full potential.
Last year showed us the value that, you, the SAERC school community place on helping our students reach their potential. To help them prepare for this, we offer diverse curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. The variety of traditional high school courses continues to provide students with many different career paths and opportunities. In addition, programs such as Options and Opportunities (O2), Skilled Trades, and Cooperative Education are helping bridge the gap between high school and post secondary and provides additional opportunities for students to explore their interests. This programming along with the many school clubs, sport teams and events support student engagement and success.
SAERC staff are eager to help our learners achieve success through exciting teaching methods and equitable practices. We appreciate the support from our volunteers and local businesses in helping our students have a rich and full high school experience.
We took home several medals from the Nova Scotia Provincial Skills Trades Competition in photography, 2D animation, welding, carpentry, robotics and electrical. Furthermore, the six (6) Gold Medalists from SAERC traveled to in the National Competition in Regina, Saskatchewan, capturing a gold and silver medal at this event. The range of programs and student interest is continuing to increase, and we can’t wait to support the next phase of engaged learners at these events.
Like the SRCE goal stated above, the focus of education at SAERC is for all students to feel safe, participate fully in their courses, and reach their potential. To do this, we will continue to work closely with you, our parents, guardians and community partners.
Your feedback is critical to helping your child succeed so please reach out if you have any questions, comments or concerns during the year.
We feel lucky to be back to SAERC as an administrative team for the 2025-2026 school year. We can’t wait to welcome students new to SAERC and continue to support our returning ones. Thank you again for working together to support student well-being, achievement and success.
Sincerely,
